Costa Rica Backpackers Story
It all started in Cairns, Australia. Vincent was working at the Parkview backpackers, back in 1995 and decided he wanted the owners job! He loved the atmosphere of the place, and realised how much he would enjoy the same way of life. Few months later he stopped over in Costa Rica on his way to Peru, and realised he may just have found the spot he was looking for... Back in Paris, he teamed up with his friend Stephane, and they spent the next three years saving every penny in order to head to Costa Rica and take a chance on opening a backpackers hostel. They arrived in Costa Rica in 2000 and spent time getting to know the country and the language, before eventually finding the right property and opening the first backpackers in the country, on October 21st 2001. They only had enough money to keep the place running for a few months, so were delighted when the place became an immediate success! The backpackers phenomenon quickly spread all over Costa Rica, with locals and foreigners alike opening up new places. Vincent and Stephane are pleased that their venture worked, and love to see how the standard of accommodation for the budget traveler has improved all over the country. They have enjoyed getting to know Costa Rica and its people, and the many travelers who pass through their door...
