LONELY PLANET 2006 |
|
This perennial reader's favourite
is located in a sprawling complex that's centred on a beautiful
free-form
pool surrounded by
hammock-strung gardens. Chill-out music completes the mellow
ambience, though you can always take things up a notch in their
attached bar-restaurant (and movie theatre). The heart and soul of
this backpacker
resort is the bird of
paradise-trimmed free-form pool, where you can swim and sun in an
urban oasis. The ambient music picks up in tempo as the daylight
wanes, which is when the scene moves indoors to the bar-restaurant.
Check out the awesome sea turtle tables and feast on typical Costa
Rican food, or enjoy international favourites including kebabs,
spring rolls and Thai
curries. The beer flows as the evening wears on, though it's worth
stopping by for the 'rainy-day double feature' on the big screen by Matthew D. Firestone |

GO CENTRAL AMERICA 2006 |

Backpackers are everywhere, swinging
their bare feet in the pool, chowing

the best part of Costa Rica
Backpackers is the feeling of
international camaraderie. Everyone's
so globally-minded and approachable,
you'll make friends from several
different continents in just one
evening. |

Everything. It was very nice and
clean, cool people and helpful staff
and they have a real garden with a
real pool (not like others hostels i
have stayed in san jose where the
garden is more like a small patio for
the smoking area with big walls around
like in jail). It makes you feel being
at the beach in downtown san jose.
Thanx i keep great memories from this
place. |

During
our holiday in Costa Rica we stayed in
7 hostels. CRBP was the best we had
the pleasure of staying in. The staff
were great people, Juan Carlos was
excepionally helpfull with booking
tours and making us feel welcome!! The
restaurant has great tasting food for
only $5 a meal! The garden is huge, no
wonder that people love sunbathing all
day long. If we ever go to San Jose
again this is were we will be staying,
thanx to all the CRBP Crew! |
